Does Desktop Twine save automatically?

I was just making some adjustments to my game using the desktop version of Twine 2 and closed without remembering to do a 'publish file' to over-right the old file. I re-opened the program fearing I'd lost all my changes, but found it picked up right where I'd left off when I closed it.

Do I take it from this I don't need to keep hitting 'Publish' ?

  • No. At least not until you're ready to make it into a .html file to be hosted somewhere. But it doesn't hurt to back it up anyway.
  • Thanks, Gryphbear.
  • Strange, I thought it does save automatically.

Gryphbear's "No" should be read as "No, you do not have to keep hitting Publish". In other words, yes, it automatically saves.

That is how I read it, just for the record, but I see where spaceranger's confusion came from.

  • Yeah, true. You do not have to hit Publish every time you want to save. But it doesn't hurt to back up the file anyway in case something goes poof. lol
