How to optimise audio?

Hi. I'm trying to add music and audio effects to a story. I have done this before using L's sound macro, but on that occasion I just distributed it as an offline html file. (And of course there were grumbles from some players about this, understandably so). This time I'd like to know if there are ways to mitigate the problems of having an online Twine with audio -- in other words, removing or lessening the chance of delays and failure.

I'm utterly rubbish at programming, so I'd really appreciate some help :)
