I'm new to all of this and I have the perfect choice game and everything. I just don't know how I can make it as good as I want it to be. If you could give me some advice and help me along the way that would be great.
I was in your boat last week. I've been picking at it off and on and learning things piece by piece. Generally, I've been able to figure things out by looking them up in the documentation for my chosen format. Two specific bits of advice from another newbie, though:
1. If you're trying to make a complex game, I recommend using Sugarcube 2 for Twine 2 as a story format. There's some stuff Harlowe, the default Twine 2 format, can't do that Sugarcube can. I lost quite a bit of work because I had to switch formats.
2. Build really small, really simple dry-runs before building big stuff, to make sure you know how it works. After a couple of painful experiences, when I want a list of 10 things in game, I build the list with 2 things and try it out. Once it works, I add the other 8.
