Ideas for a Magic System in an RPG.

Just thought I'd pull some minds together for any ideas for building a Magic system into a Twine 2 RPG using Sugarcube. Personally what the system would entail would be a mana stat and a Wisdom stat to help scale damage. However I am unsure how spells should be organized and learned, as well as potential maximum of spells that can be learned. Any thoughts about going about this.

    I think the strength of Twine is story. So, I'd suggest making the underlying system as simple as possible while using the narrative to drive interest.

    Maybe a simple list of spells and awesome narratives for each spell.

    One system I saw used that had potential was one where instead of spells you gained strength in spell schools. Then solved puzzles by choosing the school to use. This greatly simplified the system, but allowed the author a great deal of freedom. I think it was a Choice of Games game. Life of a Wizard?

    The most important aspect would be weaving the spell system into your narrative so it fits seemlessly.

    I'll leave specific code to people who know what they're doing.
