I don't exactly need to know this, but as the title suggests, I would like to know how to use the nametag in case it might help me for my game. I am using Harlowe. I just need a quick explanation of what it does and stuff.
The Special passage tags section of the Harlowe Manual lists and describes the functionality of each of the six different passage tags that Harlowe uses internally.
You can also use a passage tag to a mark groups of passages so that you can later identify those passages and do something with them but you will need to either write the relevant code yourself or use code written by someone else like that in the Basic Harlowe Passage Tag Based Styling thread.
That is known as a named hook, and the linked documentation explains some of the different ways it can be used.
The comment you linked to shows how it can also be used to identify sections of a passage so that it can be the target of a CSS selector.
